Attari–Wagah Border

Every evening the gates at Attari are closed with a loud, choreographed ceremony watched by a full stadium on each side. It is theatrical, extremely loud, and unlike anything else near Amritsar. The drive out through farmland is part of the experience.

Why visit

• It is the one place where you stand at the border itself.
• The road out passes through classic Punjab countryside.

• Shared cabs and private taxis run from the old city in the afternoon.
